Job description
The Assistant Freight Forwarder supports in the operational execution of import or export services for our freight forwarding customers. The Assistant Freight Forwarder supports in arranging shipments and sending freight as efficiently as possible while taking quality and lead time into account.
Key Activities / Accountabilities;
I. Operations
Result; Providing services to customers in accordance with SLA, SOP or other contractual obligations.
• Perform tasks in accordance with departmental SOP's; such as booking shipments, print AWB's and calculate charges
• Set-up of files based on pre-alerts and SOP's
• Assisting with departmental administrative support tasks, such as checking invoices, assisting with month-end closings and post information in various GEODIS systems
II. Customer Service
Result; strengthen internal network with other sites. Actively working on a good relationship with external customers and suppliers.
• Follows through on customer inquiries, requests and complaints;
• Fosters productive relationships with both internal and external customers;
• Checks whether the results meet expectations;
• Consistently treats customers with courtesy and respect;
• Understand customer business environment;
III. Reporting
Result; ensuring optimal operational progress and performance aligned with KPI's, SLA, SOP or any other contractual agreements with the customer.
• Assist with month-end closings: check received invoices and billing conform company policy;
• Assure timely billing conform company policy;
• Check intercompany invoices and administrate them in the system: if not correct escalate to the department manager.
IV. Teamwork
Result; collaborate and interact at all levels and sites to establish and maintain a sustainable relationship with business partners to influence business results.
• Act as a back-up for colleagues in case of illness, holidays or peaks in workload;
• Alters normal procedures to fit a specific situation to get a job done and/or meet company goals

Profile of the position;
Technical skills
• Vocational education (MBO) in preferably freight forwarding
• Awareness of customs, import & export processes and industry regulations.
• Effective user of IT systems used in the freight forwarding industry (operational, invoicing and company tools)
• Knowledge of customer's SOP's;
• Fluent in local language and English.
Depending on site:
• Certificate Air Cargo Employee (MLV);
• Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) which needs to be renewed every two years;
• Certificate of No-Objection (VGB) which needs to be renewed every five years.
Depending on department:
• Latest version of IATA DGR certification;
• Latest version of Acceptance of General Cargo (Acceptatie Algemene Vracht) Awareness
• Latest version of GDP Awareness;
• Latest version of IATA Lithium certification.
