Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist in Belgrade. This role is responsible for full-cycle customs declaration preparation, regulatory compliance, and import/export advisory services. The ideal candidate will have expertise in customs clearance, trade compliance regulations, AEO certifications, and classification procedures, with experience working across European Member States as an advantage.
Working Hours: Standard full-time working hours, with shift schedules subject to rotation based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage full-cycle customs declaration preparation, ensuring compliance with Serbian and EU regulations and the accurate classification of goods.
Coordinate and oversee customs clearance processes, ensuring timely and compliant import/export operations.
Utilize CargoWise, OCR technology, and European customs systems (such as Fiton, LSP, ASM Sequoia, EMMA, and Stream) to optimize workflows, improve efficiency, and minimize errors.
Advise on import/export regulations, AEO certifications, and trade compliance standards, ensuring adherence to local and international laws.
Conduct compliance checks, audits, and risk assessments, identifying and addressing potential trade compliance issues.
Liaise with government authorities, customs officials, and regulatory bodies to resolve clearance issues and maintain compliance.
Manage customer accounts, providing advisory support, reporting, and handling escalations related to trade compliance matters.
Analyze and interpret customs and trade data, preparing detailed reports to support decision-making and operational improvements.
Identify and drive opportunities for process optimization within customs operations and trade compliance functions.

Applicant's profile

Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Logistics, International Trade, Customs Regulations, or a related field.
Fluent English (Advanced Level) – both written and spoken.
Serbian Customs Brokerage License (Mandatory).
Experience in customs clearance operations, preferably working as a Customs Declarant, Import Specialist, or Trade Compliance Specialist.
Strong knowledge of Serbian and European customs regulations.
Advanced MS Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
Familiarity with OCR technology for document processing.
Experience working with CargoWise or similar customs management platforms.
Ability to work with European customs systems such as Fiton, LSP, ASM Sequoia, EMMA, and Stream (experience with other systems is an advantage).
Preferred Experience:
Two to five years of experience in a similar customs/trade compliance role.
Experience handling audits and compliance testing related to trade and import/export regulations.
Familiarity with tariff classification, valuation, and preferential trade agreements.
