Job description

Responsible to ensure the sites complies with all health, safety and environmental legal requirements and regulation. He/she oversees and coordinates work systems to ensure that all the services provided by GEODIS Contract Logistics UK meet the required high standards and that the working conditions remain safe and secure. He/she will act in a supporting and advisory capacity to the site management team on all Health Safety and Environmental issues. He/she will be responsible for collating and maintaining training information. He/she will report Health, safety and environmental monthly statistics required monthly to central departments. He/she will also be responsible for attaining and maintaining industry accreditation's for the company on site.

• Drive a positive safety culture with a people focused strategy
• Assist to develop and implement a streamlined Safety Management Systems
• Ensures advice is given to management on health, safety, environment and compliance issues and related legislation
• Responsible for ensuring legislation is correctly followed at all times on site
• Responsible for ensuring company standards are maintained to include fire prevention, H&S awareness, site inspections and environmental awareness in all areas
• Ensures the working conditions are compliant with H&S regulations and environmental awareness and acts accordingly when there is a need to address issues - raising with site management and escalating if required
• Responsible for ensuring proactive monitoring regimes are executed by local management and records maintained at all times
• Ensures accidents and incidents are investigated with follow up reporting documentation supplied.
• Responsible for ensuring plans are put in place to mitigate repeat occurrences. Shares recommendations widely
• Develop a regular H&S communication with all levels site management and employees
• Responsible for delivering action plans from HS&E audits and delegating action to resolve findings and drive best practice
• Identifying and assessing risks at all levels and report findings to site management and via local H&S meeting
• Proposes new/revised processes and actions to prevent risk to the Company, staff, buildings, MHE and goods
• Work with HR to ensure that HS&E training programmes are created and delivered across the business
• Participates in local H&S meetings and advises on legislative issues. Advising of compliance to HS&E guidance and Best Practice.
• Responsible for ensuring all forms of H&S risk assessment are undertaken and up to date e.g. general, manual handling, fire prevention
• Ensure Occupational HS&E related surveys carried out e.g. noise, lighting, and implement associated recommendations.
• Prepare management reports as and when required - highlighting progress via KPIs
• Attain and maintain industry accreditation's as agreed
• Vet contractor RAMS and prepare Permits to Work

• Experience of operational processes in transport and warehousing
• Experience of contractor negotiations
• Experience in carrying out investigations
• NEBOSH Certificate in H&S or equivalent as a minimum
• Experience of working in H&S in a logistics, transport or warehousing environment.
