Job description
The Account Manager is responsible for Contract Compliance, where applicable, Customer Service and Operations and development of nominated accounts. This will involve an intensely close working relationship with the UK branch network. The responsibility may include the Management of dedicated customer teams or departments. The role also requires maximum support and effective collaboration with the Sales team within the Customer Management set-up.
Objective / Purpose of the Department
To be responsible for the external and internal development of the nominated customers in accordance with the strategic and tactical plan established by the Account Management Team, including quality and efficiency improvements linked to specific Customer/Account Plans.
To provide the customer service and operational organizations with daily support within the GEODIS Freight Forwarding organization and network in terms of execution of agreed plans and customer specified demands.
To have the overall responsibility for the continued growth of the nominated accounts / business volume and to maintain a satisfied customer (to include their nominated stakeholders).
Objective / Purpose of the Job
To build and maintain a global relationship with nominated customers, locally, regionally and globally.
To ensure productive and efficient sales and development activities around the accounts. The emphasis is placed on growth and profitability in accordance with the policies and guidelines laid out in the Account Management process and as decided by the Sales and Account Senior Management team of GEODIS FF UK.
Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the Account Manager to ensure that the relationship is deepening both in complexity, e.g. through increased EDI connectivity etc., and business volume whenever possible.
To co-ordinate and harmonize activities between the customer teams globally, including but not limited to operational processes, IT tools, statistical & financial reporting and high-level customer service excellence.
Key Activities / Accountabilities
An Account Manager will manage and develop the existing business and relationship, including incremental business opportunities within nominated accounts.
• Responsible for effective working practices with the customer.
• Oversee and manage SLA (Service Level Agreements) between client and GEODIS Freight Forwarding.
• Responsible for Monthly KPI reports
• Execution of strategic plans to develop and maintain long-term partnership with the customer and their nominated stakeholders.
• Working with supply chain management teams where applicable.
• Control over customer interactions in the form of volumes, revenues, and also profitability. All of these are measured on a monthly basis.
• Act as the customer's ambassador internally at GEODIS Freight Forwarding.
• Sell complete solutions and concepts in collaboration with internal colleagues and Management
Applicant's profile
Essential Education and/ or Training
• University degree or equivalent
• Experience in commercial and customer service activities with a proven success record
• Well experienced in the freight forwarding and logistics industry
• Excellent communication and language skills (English)
Preferred Experience and Knowledge
This individual should have a minimum of 5 years senior level customer service/relationship management experience, as well as be familiar with the principles and practise of freight and supply chain management, ideally to include an element of sales experience.
Working knowledge of the international transportation and logistics industry is vital. Familiarity with the financial aspects of the relevant local economy as well as international market conditions and trends, and international business issues, including currency factors and cultural differences.
