Objective / Purpose of the Department

A Wave Planner is typically responsible for planning and releasing picking waves in a warehouse or distribution center environment, ensuring efficient fulfillment operations.

Key Activities / Accountabilities
• Main Responsibilities:
• Analyze order volumes and prioritize shipments according to customer requirements and warehouse capacity.
• Schedule and release picking waves to optimize workflow and labor utilization.
• Coordinate closely with warehouse operations, inventory control, and IT teams to ensure accurate and timely order processing.
• Monitor the progress of picking waves and adjust plans as necessary to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
• Resolve issues related to order fulfillment, inventory discrepancies, or system errors during the wave process.
• Maintain accurate records of wave planning activities and produce daily/weekly reports.
• Key Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience in warehouse operations, preferably with WMS (Warehouse Management System) exposure.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to operational changes.
• Good communication skills for interacting with multiple departments.
Applicant's profile
Essential Education and/ or Training
• GCSE or equivalent.
• Experience of the logistics industry and a customer service role.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge
• Proven customer service record and experience.
• Significant exposure to customers and suppliers.
Necessary Technical / Functional Skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to motivate and encourage staff, to deal effectively with internal and external contacts ranging from executive to administrative levels to customers and suppliers, and to produce effective summaries and reports as required.
• Good telephone manner is essential.
• Good grasp of English language to enable accurate written communication.
• Self-confident to enable competent interaction with staff, customers and suppliers.
• Excellent Customer service skills combined with high service level ethic.
• Competent problem-solving with the ability to look for alternative solutions.
• Immaculate attention to detail alongside highly accurate data entry and inputting skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Proficiency with relevant software (WMS, Excel, etc.).
• Strong people skills.
• Must be able to work in a pressurised environment.
